My husband and I played the Gold course and it was challenging. The course was in great shape but there were quite a few ball marks on each green that were left not repaired by previous golfers... more »

My goodness, I love Soldier Hollow. But let me clarify. The Silver Course is nice, but boring. The Gold Course is where it's at. Such a wide variety of shots. It's true you'll have a lot of different lies (above and below your feet), but that's what makes it fun. There's so much variety here. And I've never played it when it's been in bad shape. I love this place maybe even more than my only son. Update: the Silver Course is actually pretty fun. I've repented of my evil ways. Either course is a great track. The value makes these course even better too!

*Gold course* This links style course is clearly designed with firm conditions in mind. The shape of the fairways and mounding allows for creativity with tee shots and second shots into par 5's. Unfortunately, the course is usually very wet meaning no utilizing those slopes. Even if there's a good reason for watering the course to such a degree it detracts from the character of the course. Aside from it being too soft the conditions here are very good. I would recommend the course to pretty much anyone. The reason for the three stars, including the previously mentioned, involve the carts, lack of drinking water, and the grill. The carts here are gas and the exhaust is terrible. You're out on this beautiful piece of property sucking in fumes every time the cart in front of you takes off. There is one opportunity per nine to get water from a kind of dirty looking water fountain. If you fill up one bottle it lasts maybe two holes before you're needing more. I brought water the next two times out but without coolers on the cart the extra water gets really warm. The grill does an average job w their food quality but there isn't a healthy option on the menu of any sustenance. If this place cleaned up the little things it would be a much more enjoyable experience.
